Allan W Ross
Allan has built his career in the asset finance industry, initially with a bank owned finance house and has now diversified into business mentoring and consultancy.
In 1999 he founded First Independent Finance Ltd an asset finance broker specialising in the SME market. This business has grown to one of the country’s largest, most recognised and reputable brokers in this market. This experience of starting and growing a business, along with Allans long career in making lending decisions to thousands of businesses has provided him with a hands on practical approach to what makes businesses owners tickas well as what they need to do to achieve success.
In 2008, Allan completed an MBA at Strathclyde University, augmenting his commercial experience with a strong academic ground in strategy and the fundamentals of business including operations, marketing, finance and decision making. Allan also developed a special interest in exit strategies and collaborated on some ground-breaking research in this area that provides a unique set of tools and guidance for business owners looking to make a successful exit.
In recent years, Allan has mentored a number of Managing Directors of Scottish companies, who have gone on to achieve greater success. Allan combines a strong practical business background with an enquiring mind and deep-seated desire to help other business owners succeed – few things give him more pleasure than helping others.
Whilst Allan maintains an active interest in First Independent Finance, the work Eriskay Associates recently completed on Strategy for First Independent Finance brought us to his attention and as a result he has acquired an interest in Eriskay in the capacity of "mentor", and business growth champion.
